Two armed soldiers and a man in a white lab coat wearing a respirator, stand on the other side of the door.   14 May 2009    Government: the New Mother Recently, H.R.20, a bill introduced in January, passed the House of Representatives by a considerable margin on March 30. Titled the Mother’s Act, the bill provides $3,000,000 in funding “[t]o provide for research on, and services for individuals with, postpartum depression and psychosis.” Upon first read, the bill looks like a step in the right direction, but upon closer examination, a number of questions remain unanswered about its true purpose and its probable impact on families, namely Black families.   14 May 2009    Nylon and Asphalt Houses Big houses. Flashy cars. Fast credit. Fashionable clothes. All part of the American dream. At least, that’s the line we’ve all been sold. The truth remains that too many of us have become accustomed to the good life, leaving us vulnerable to changes in another people’s economy. Despite the increasing gap between the numbers of employed and unemployed Blacks, many still believe that, in the end, the government will come to their rescue.   20 Mar 2009    The Chinese Connection What most people may not be aware of is China’s policy of asymmetric warfare (look it up). In other words, what is happening in finance to the untrained eye may cause China to look like suckers—loaning money to a dying man, and expecting repayment. It’s safe to say, the People’s Republic of China is home to no fools. This is a long calculated step in the global agenda to become the world’s main producer, supplier and head merchant. This role has been agreed upon by world banking authorities, and China’s debt holdings are the key to it all. Consider it part of a global shift and re-positioning.   20 Mar 2009    An Ancient Case of Identity Theft A low-life and wicked group of people broke into an ancient house of our mothers some time ago, whilst we slept, and stole all they saw and trampled the rest. As any fool with treasure, the true value of the stolen items was not obvious to them. Knowing the goods had some great value, they took them to the wise men they knew for insight and possible sale.   20 Mar 2009    14 Years Too Long It's been 14 years since a judge in Mississippi banged the gavel sentencing two sisters, each to double life sentences, for a crime witnesses have said they did not commit. It's been 14 years too long that these sisters, Jamie and Gladys Scott, have been locked away as their children grew into adults and their father died from a broken heart, partially brought on by the stressors of trying to free his daughters. It's been 14 long, long years that their mother, Evelyn Rasco, has cried herself to sleep at night wondering when, if ever, she'll see her daughters free again.
